FIRST UNIT: PHILOSOPHY, PRANAYAMA,
VISUALIZATION
Unit 1:
Philosophy, pranayama, visualization The first part of Wholistic Spiritual Training is based on the system "Yoga Step by Step" by our Guru Swami Gitananda (www.icyer.com). It is a methodical path to the philosophy and practice of Yoga, with the aim of strengthening the energy-body and mind. The training lasts 11 months. Ideal for: 1. Yoga instructors, alternative trainers and therapists who want to explore the spiritual side of yoga. 2. Those who want to deepen and consolidate their spiritual practice. 3. Those who want to gain a clearer understanding of the soul and the mind. NOTE for the new group December 2024: Wholistic Spiritual Training (in English)** online and in person Every Wednesday from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM (Athens time) for theory and practice, Starting in January 2025. Free introductory lessons Wednesday 11/12/24 and Wednesday 18/12/24 7.30-8.30pm. Recordings will be available a few hours after each session. In pursuit of a holistic approach to yoga practice, and in response to the demand for Wholistic Spiritual Training in English, we now meet every Wednesday for theory and practice. This training is designed for those who wish to delve deeper into Yoga philosophy and meditation—whether they are therapists, yoga teachers, psychologists, or individuals who have found that the mindfulness of yoga heals them or enhances their lives. (It seems that Wholistic Spiritual Training has become a valuable tool for yoga teachers and psychologists.) Through my teaching experience, I’ve learned that people can only absorb a limited amount of information at a time. I’ve developed a training system where each concept is thoroughly analyzed and practiced through body work and breath work until it becomes part of the person's constitution. **Here’s what we will cover:** - **Lessons 1-3:** Prana (vitality)—how to recognize and harness it. General information on activated food. Pranayama for charging the body. - **Lessons 4-6:** Pancha Kosha—the five layers of our existence and the four-fold awareness. Pranayama for aligning body, emotions, mind, and spirit. - **Lessons 7-9:** Yama/Niyama—the complete code of life to prevent energy loss and build energy. Pranayama and Jnana Kriya (visualization) for awakening the frontal brain and conscience. - **Lessons 10-12:** Ego and the endless knot of Chitta Vritti, Klesha, Samskara, and Vasana. Pranayama and Jnana Kriya (visualization) for calming the mind and slowing down thoughts. - **Lessons 13-15:** Understanding the law of Karma. Advanced Pranayama and Jnana Kriya (visualization) for breaking actions that stimulate karma. - **Lessons 16-18:** Types of self-development through yoga. Discovering the best practice for personal evolution—Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Tantra Yoga, and Raja Yoga. - **Lessons 19-21:** Review, repetition, and re-practice. Additional lessons will cover Yantra (the power of numbers) and Dosha (Ayurvedic constitution) for more personalized practice. Creative writing assignments will be given for each lesson, and one-to-one online or in-person meetings will be arranged every three months for more effective practice. Along with our weekly sessions, we will also meet online for **Prakriyas** (continuous practice for a specific time frame), which all members from all years will participate in. We typically meet for Prakriyas 4-5 times per year (with morning and/or evening options to choose from). Every July, those who are able, can join us for a six-day residential intensive practice, including Hatha Yoga, Kriya Yoga, Jnana Yoga, and a yogic activated diet. **Price:** - €200 registration fee (goes to our ashram in India – ICYER Ananda Ashram) - €40 per month (recordings available for those who miss classes)* - Or €600 fixed fee for the 11 months and the registration. A recognized certificate from Ananda Ashram will be awarded upon completion of the first year. *Please note: Each individual is responsible for watching the recordings and catching up on missed classes. |
